Which type of twins does ‘twin to twin transfusion syndrome’ affect?
Monochorionic twins (they must share the same placenta)
What is twin to twin transfusion syndrome?
When one twin receives more blood from the placenta than the other.
Smaller twin = donor twin.
bigger twin = recipient twin.
What are the complications of twin to twin transfusion syndrome?
Donor twin - malnourishment and organ failure
Recipient twin - overwork of the heart, other cardiac failures
When are dichorionic diamnitic twins delivered?
37 weeks
When are monochorionic diamniotic twins delivered?
36 weeks
When are triplets delivered?
35 weeks
