20th century - new tech allowed scientists to analyse cells and dna was discovered
1990 watson and team mapped the human genome
what were new possibilties of understanding genetics
better understanding of genetic conditions
discovery of stem cells
why was there an improvement in diagnosis
use of technology to discover whats wrong
give some examples of technology use in the present
x ray
dialysis
microscopes
MRI

Paul Ehrlich and his team helped by german government tested many compounds of salvarsan to find a treatment for syphillis
in 1909 hata joined the team and discovered they had rejectedx the 606th compound that worked

what did florey and chain do with penicillin
several years after flemings findings they continued research and it proved effective on mice and humans
how did penicillin become mass produced
florey asked uk drug companies but they were busy in war efforts
1941, florey asked usa companies and some agreed but on a small scale
when usa joined ww2 the government saw the need to treat casulaties and mass production began in 1942
why was penicillin slow to be accepted
a lot of it was needed to treat someone
needed a lot of growing space
how is lung cancer diagnosed
if cancer is suspected then patient is given a CT scan and if it shows a mass some cells are tested
what are symptoms of lung cancer
