One thousand evacuated - hotels evacuated -schools. shut down- tourist complexes damaged and skiing areas - an airport in catania closed
Effects on building
100 homes damaged in Santa venerina -air ports coved in ash- restaurant destroyed - ski lifts pushed over -forests on slop destroyed
Effects on economy
300 family businesses effected -soil becomes rich in nutrients after eruption so gd for farming
Cause
The eurasian place subducting under the african place (the eurasion plate melts due to high temperature)
Prediction
scientific monitoring centre at the foot of volcano

it is always very active so authorities and locals are prepared and know what to do
During the eruption
Lava flowed down in two seperate flows
Ash clouds drifted falling on towns below
Gas and ash erupted from volcano froming huge clouds
Short term response
People evacuated
People told not to use their vehicles to avoid blocked engines
To divert the lava flow recuers used bulldozers to crack tarmac and buld barriers and emergancy workers dug channels in the earth
eye masks were handed out to prevent ash from going in eyes
schools and airport closed
