- Men leave the woman and children behind (farm productivity falls so loss of money)
- Men used to migrate and when they has enough money return now they stay in USA
- Yound people tend to migrate leaving ageing communities behind
- Woman outnumber men and they have prblems finding suitable marriage partners
- birth rates fall beacause the man are not aorund to repopulate

- Mexicans do the jobs that Americans won’t e.g. ranch work, bars ,cleaning and picking cotton
- they work long hours for low pay
- Many migrants do not stay long (seasonal jobs) and do not get unemployment pay
- Some migrants are highly trained and needed by USA
- Without the Mexians, factories would have to close
