Problems with local high street shops
→Too close of Lakeside- a similar shopping centre means that Lake side would suffer trade taken and jobs threatened
→Local high street shops suffer( In Croydon+ Dartford) especially the small, independent and family run-shops(They couldn’t compete with big chain stores and big stores can cut prices attractig customers)
Why people are attracted to Bluewater
→undercover compared to local places
→Heatings so customers prefer it in winter
→ Cheeper for customers(businesses going bust so had to put prices up to cover the costs
→ only charity and pound shops left in local stores
Congeston
→Lorries delivering goods
- traffic jams on motorway
Problems with super markets
Butchers and bakers disappeared as supermarkets get meat from abrod cheaper(Ledc markets)
Solutions
Encourage people back with CCTV and more parking
- Imporve public transport so cars dont cause more congestion
- Government should spend money on redeveloping town centres e.g. Garnborough and Aldershot
- Pedestriamosation
- Cuts on taxes/financial incentives to independent traders
