9
Q

What is flexor digitorum superficialis’ relationship with nerves and arteries?

A

The muscle has 2 heads - 1 attached to the humerus and the other to the radius.
The median nerve and ulnar artery pass between the the muscle’s two heads then travel posteriorly

Q

How many muscles are found in the posterior forearm? How many in each layer?

A

12- 6/7 superficial and 5/6 deep

19
Q

How cn you remember the 6/7 superficial muscles of the posterior forearm?

A

Draw dots on your posterior forearm whilst it is pronated

20
Q

WhT are the 6/7 superficial muscles of the forearm?

A
Brachiaoradialis
Extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis
Extensor digitorum
Extensor digiti minimi
Extensor carpi ulnaris
(Anconeus)
21
Q

What are the 5/6 deep muscles of the forearm?

A
(Anconeus)
Supinator
Abductor pollicis longus
Extensor pollicis longus
Extensor pollicis brevis
Extensor indicis
22
Q

Where is brachioradialis found and what is it’s role?

A

On the radial aide of the posterior forearm
Supination
Flexion of the elbow when forearm is pronated

23
Q

Where are extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis found and what is their role?

A

-

24
Q

Where is extensor digitorum found and what is it’s role?

A

Runs down the middle of the posterior forearm
Goes to all fingers
Extension of the fingers

25
Q

Where is extensor digiti minimi found and what is it’s role?

A

On the little finger side

Extension of the little finger

26
Q

Where is extensor carpi ulnaris found and what is it’s role?

A

Found on the ulnar side

Extension of the wrist and ulnar deviation

27
Q

Where is anconeus found and what is it’s role?

A

Little muscle found near the elbow

Extension of the elbow

28
Q

Where is supinator found and what is it’s role?

A

Quite a large muscle
Found near the elbow
Supination of the forearm

29
Q

Where is extensor indicis found found and what is it’s role?

A

Runs down the middle of the posterior forearm and then intor the index finger
Extension of the index finger

30
Q

What makes up the snuff box?

A

Abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis longus and brevis

31
Q

Where is extensor pollicis longus found and what is it’s role?

A

On the inside of the brevis sandwich near the palm

Extends all of the joints of the thumb

32
Q

Where is extensor pollicis brevis found and what is it’s role?

A

In the middle of the thumb

Extends the metcarpophalangeal joint of the thumb

33
Q

Where is abductor pollicis longus found and what is its role?

A

On the outside of the brevis sandwich

ABducts the thumb

34
Q

Where do you find the median nerve in the wrist?

A

Just distal to the wrist, if you reflect back the palmaris longus, you will find the median nerve immediately underneath it.
