Q

What are the two digestions of the stomach?

A

1) Mechanical digestion: Muscles lining walls of stomach contract, physical breaking down food into smaller pieces

2) Chemical digestion:

-Gastric juices (contains rennin) helps chemical breaking down of food

-Hormone gaskin released when bolus past the cardiac sphincter

-Gastin goes to bloodstream and cause glands in stomach release gastric juices

  • Gastic juices do chemical digestion and contain pepsin
