What is the general function of vitamins?
1) Maintain growth of body cells, tissue, organs
2) Metabolism which is chemical processes in body
What are the two main groups of vitamins?
1) Fat soluble (A,D,E,K)
2) Water soluble (B,C)
Is vitamins and minerals inorganic and organic?
Vitamins are organic and minerals are inorganic
What are the functions of minerals?
1) Building mat for bod structures
2) Take part of them reaction
3) Take up 4% total weight, most of it is your skeleton
What types of element are for bone structures?
Calcium and phosphorus
How much water is your body weight, blood, muscles/tissues, and how much do you lose and how do you lose it?
Body weight 60%, blood 92%, muscles/tissues 80%, we lose 2.5L per day from exhaling, sweating and peeing
What is osmoregulation?
Water balance that is managed by skin, lungs and kidneys.
Use hormone: ADH
Recommend daily of 1.5-2L of water per day
What are the functions of water?
1) Homeostasis
2) Transport
3) Chemical processes
4) Gas exchange
5) Urine production
6) Lubrication
7) Cytoplasm
