In small intestine and it absorbed digested materials into bloodstream
What do nutrients do in small intestine?
Nutrients move into capillaries by diffusion and active transport bring some nutrients into bloodstream
What are absorbed into capillaries and in lacteals?
Digested proteins and carbs absorbed into capillaries
Digested lipids absorbed into lacteals
What are some stuff absorbed in the stomach?
Water, vitamins, meds and alcohol
Describe the large intestine
Not large (1.5m) and it is wide (6cm in diameter)
What is the anatomy of the large intestine?
1) Caecum
2) Appendix
3) Asending colon
4) Transverse colon
5) Descending colon

What are the functions of the large intestine?
1) Water and salt absorption
2) Synthesis of vitamins B and K
3) Elimination of Wastes
Describe the rectum and anus
Last 20cm of large intestine is the rectum and the anus entrance is at the end of rectum lined with a circular muscle called anal sphincter
What happens if the rectum is full?
Sensory receptors in the walls send a message to the nervous system
What does the anal sphincter do?
Allows body to control the timing of release of waste
