what should you do when you join the motorway from a split road?
adjust your speed to match the speed of the traffic on the motorway

overtake on the right but only on the left if the other lanes have lots of traffic. making it difficult to do so.
what is the crawler lane used for up a hill?
used for slow moving vehicles, which helps fast moving traffic flow more easily
what should you do if traffic is joining from a slip road and your traveling in the left hand lane?
-move to the other lane if possible, to allow traffic to flow easier when joining on the motorway
what do countdown markers indicate?
that your approaching the next exit
what should you do if you accidently pass the exit you wanted on the motorway?
carry on to the next exit, dont stop or reverse
what is the national speed limit for cars on the motorway?
70mp in all lanes, unless sighns show likit to speed
what is a vehcile towing a trailer limited too on the motorway?
-restricted to speed limit of 60mph
-not allowed to travel in righthamd lane on 3-way motorway, unles lane closures (no exception in northen ireland)
when should you use your hazard lights on the motorway?
show traffic behind that traffic ahead is slowing down/ suddenly stopping.
then switch them of when queue forms behind you
what should you do when you approach any roadworks?
-obey all speed limits
-keep good distance from vehicle ahead
how does traffic managment reduce congestion?
-speed limits
-putting a red cross above hard shoulder(avoid going in lane)
what are emergency areas used for?
used for emergencys or breakdowns
what can traffic operators do?
-can stop and direct anyone on motorway or A road
-respond to calls made on roadside emergancy telephones
what colour is the lane marking between the hardshoulder and carriage way?
red

what colou are the lane markings invetween lanes?

-to take a nap or look at the map
what should you if your vehicle breaksdown and has a puncture?
-go onto hard shoulder and call for hell from an emergency telephone
where abouts are the emergency telephones?
normally at one mile intervals. with marker posters at 100 meter interval points in direction of phone
-(connected directly to control centre) operators deal with call and direct appropriate services to help you
what should you do when using an emergency telephobe on an motorway?
-stand and face oncoming traffic
-check your location (number on nearest post marker) before call
-give information to emergency service
how should you rejoin the carriageway from the hard shoulder?
wait for safe gap.
gain speed on hard shoulder before moving out to carriage way
-if you cant then put hazard warning lights on.
-leave vehicle when you can get clear of the carriage way safely
