Q

Advantages and disadvantages of extrinsic motives

A

+ attracted to the activity and provides early motivation

  • If use too much may undermine the value of the activity and therefore intrinsic motivation players compete just for the reward
  • Extrinsic rewards may create pressure on players to achieve and if they don’t get the reward motivation can be lost the same pressure may also promote cheating
