Motion Dynamics Flashcards
What movements occur in the Sagittal, frontal and transverse planes?
S: flex and extend
F: side bending, ab/adduction
T: rotation
Elastic end feel ROM
similar to rubber band
Abrupt end feel
osteoarthritis or hinge joint
Hard end feel
Somatic dysfxn
Empty end feel?
stops due to guarding
Crisp end feel
involuntary muscle guarding, occurs with pinched nerves
Coupled motion?
motion along or about one axis with motion along another axis
Linkage?
Linking multiple structures together shoulder-spine
spine-hip
Skeletal dysfunction?
hard end point, osteoarthritis, RA
Arthrodial dysfunction?
Hard end point, osteoarthritis and RA
Myofascial dysfunction?
tight elastic end point, scar tissue
Vascular dysfunction?
empty end feel, peripheral vascular disease, thoracic outlet syndrome
Lymphatic dysfunction?
Empty or boggy end feel, lymphedema, visceral dysfunction (CHF), acute injury such as sprained ankle
Neural dysfunction?
crisp or empty end feel, herniated disc, throacic outlet syndrome
