subjected to repeated trauma leading to inflammation, swelling and fibrosis forming a neuroma

A
metatarsalgia
burning and tingling radiating into affected toe
most likely 3rd interspace, then 2nd

diagnosis
A
loss of sensation in affected web space
Mulder’s click test (medio-lateral compression of metatarsal head)
USS for swollen nerve

conservative management
A
pad/insole
steroid injections
anaesthetic injections

surgical management
A
excision (small risk of reoccurrence and pain)
