A
main stabiliser against the tibia

presentation
A
- pop that is felt or heard
- hemarthrosis (effusion due to bleeding of the ACL blood supply)
- deep pain in knee
- rotatory instability
- feeling the knee could give way

diagnosis
A
Lachman’s (positive anterior drawer test- the tibia can be pulled forward easily on the femur when knee is flexed)

management
A
- reconstruction only. tendon graft secured to bones
- intensive rehabilitation
