Set. : Roots ending in a Laryngeal (*CeH, *CeRH. They appear with an -i- in Skt.
Anit. : Roots not ending in a Laryngeal (*HeC, *HReC) appear without an -i- in Skt.
Ablaut (morphological)
Morphological process of conditioned V changes that mark certain grammatical properties/categories.
ø: zero-grade.
Qualitative: full e-gr, o-gr, lengthened ē-gr, ō-gr.
Root shapes
*CReC, *CeRC, *CReRC, *CeC, *CHeC, *CeH, *HeC, *HReC.
Roots could also be preceded by *s (s-mobile roots).
Can’t be: *DeD or *DheT or *TeDh.
