RADIUS HEAD DISLOCATION
Mechanism
FOOSH with hyperextended elbow and pronation injury
Bados classification
Type 1 : Ulna @ angulation = anterior , radius @ dislocation = anterior
Type 2 : Posterior
Type 3 : lateral
type 4 : anterior with # of radius
Clinical feature
PAin
Swelling
Deformity
Restricted movement
May be associated with vessel or nerve injury
Xray
Mclaughlin line disrupted = straight line from centre of shaft of radius cuts capitulim in centre
treament
Children
Adult
Children
closed reduction and full arm cast for 3 weeks
Adult
ORIF ( radial head reduces itself after length of ulna restored)
Complication
Malunion
non union
cross union
PIN injury leading to wrist drop and thumd drop
Myossitis ossificans
