2 types of cells seen in parathyroid
A
Chief cells
- secrete PTH
- small in diameter; eosinophilic; small dark nucleus
- act on bones, kidneys, intestines
Oxyphil cells
- inactive cells of same type as chief cells
- less numerous
- larger in diameter
