Module 4 Flashcards
Pectoralis Minor and Serratus Anterior
Anterior muscles that attach the axial skeleton via the rib cage to the pectoral girdle
Trapezius
Superficial muscle that attaches the axial skeleton to the pectoral girdle
Pectoralis Major
Attaches the axial skeleton to the arm, flexes the humerus
Latissimus Dorsi
Attaches the axial skeleton to the arm, extends the humerus
Biceps Brachii
Anterior, flexes the forearm and is a powerful supinator of the forearm
Triceps Brachii
Posterior, extends the forearm
Flexor Carpi Radialis and Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
Anterior, flex the wrist, have a common origin on the medial epicondyle of the humerus
Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus and Brevis and Extensor Carpi Ulnaris
Posterior, extend the wrist, common origin is on the lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Iliopsoas
Anterior, flexes the thigh
3 Gluteal Muscles
- Gluteus Maximus
- Gluteus Medius
- Gluteus Minimus
What Do the 3 Gluteal muscles Do
Extend the thigh
Sartorius Muscle
Crosses the hip and knee, acting to flex both joints
Quadriceps Femoris
act solely on the knee, come together to form the quadriceps tendon to insert the patella
What do the sartorius and quadriceps come together to do
anterior, extend the knee
Adductors
group of muscles in the medial compartment of the the thigh that function to move the thigh medially
Hamstrings
make up the posterior compartment of the thigh. together they act to extend the hip and flex the knee
Tibialis Anterior
Muscle extends the the foot - dorsiflexion
Lateral - Peroneus (Fibularis) Longus
Evert the foot
Plantar Flexion
Ability to push off the toes
Gastrocnemius and Soleus
Posterior compartment muscles are those that flex the foot (plantar flexion), they insert together to form the Achilles tendon
Deltoid
Moves the humerus and stabilizes the glenohumeral joint. Abducts the arm
Four Rotator Cuff Muscles that Stabilize the Glenohumeral Joint
- Subscapularis
- Teres Minor
- Infraspinatus
- Supraspinatus
