What is a computer
A computer is an electronic device that processes data and performs tasks according to instructions and it’s multi purpose
Four types of computers
Laptops, smartphones, desktop and tablets
What is hardware and software
We refer to the physical part of a computer that we can touch and see as hardware
Instructions given to computers to perform a task is a software
What is the information cycle
Information cycle is when computers receive input usually from the keyboard of the mouse do something with it (process it) and then produce some form of output usually on the screen or on the monitor often the outward needs to be stored for use of later
What is the difference between data and information
Data is unprocessed items and information is the result of the processing of data
What makes a computer and multipurpose tool
- Runs a wide variety of software programs
- Performs many different tasks (e.g., word processing, internet browsing, gaming, simulations)
- Executes different instructions based on the software loaded
- Highly versatile and adaptable
What is the operating system
Operating system controls all the activities in the computer and this is the most important program on a computer (eg is windows, android, iOS, Linux)
What is GUI
GUI stands for graphical user interface and this allows users to interact with the computers and to make selections through the use of graphical elements such as icons and titles

Shows the name of the file and the program you are working in

Touch type
When a person types over 120 words per minute without looking at the keyboard
What is a file
A collection of data or information that is stored on a computer under a single name
What is storage
Place on the computer with work is kept permanently
