Limitations of the NNDSS
they only represent the amount of disease that is diagnosed CLINICALLY (not true incidence rate)
Notification is only sent if there is a positive clinical diagnosis (community incidence may be much higher)

Check levels of seasonal outbreaks
Provide a major overview of the major infectious diseases and heir incidence over a period of time
