Module 10 Flashcards
ATP
Never used for long term energy, generally use for direct and rapid transfers of energy
Phosphorylation
A chemical reaction added to another molecule. ADP is phosphorylation to form ATP
Glucose
Primary product of photosynthesis and input of cellular respiration
Photosynthesis
Metabolic pathway that uses light energy to build carbohydrates from CO2.
Chemical potential energy
Energy store in the bonds of molecules. Larger molecules with more bonds have more chemical potential energy.
Light-dependent reaction
First stage of photosynthesis where light energy is used by the chlorophyll to generate chemical energy in the form of ATP and carrier molecules in the form of NADPH
Chlorophyll
Pigment that produces green color on plants
NADPH
Electron carrier molecule produced in the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis. Transferred to Calvin Cycle where electrons are used to generate glucose
