How long does Infancy last, and what development can be observed?

A

Infancy lasts 2-3 years from Birth to 2 years of age. You will see them hold up their head, roll over, reach for things, sit, crawl, begin to walk, increase coordination, and manipulate objects with their hands. By age 2, they will feed themselves with their hands, jump & run awkwardly, throw the ball, use a zipper, or make a tower of blocks.

A

Early childhood lasts 4-5 years from age 2-6 years old. Toddlers will Hop, tumble, play, swing, love to run, develop fine motor skills, string beads, and do jigsaw puzzles. By age 4, they can print their names, dress, undress themselves, and eat with utensils.

A

Adolescence lasts 8-9 years from age 10-18. You will see them have rapid growth (3-5 inches), and girls begin puberty earlier; boys grow taller and more muscular, girls’ physical growth slows, boys’ physical growth continues, and they both reach sexual maturity.
