Osteopathic doctors treat disorders through the manipulation and massage of bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles.

A

Both MDs and DOs generally have the same educational requirements:
- 4 undergraduate years
- 4 graduate years after passing the MCAT- graduate years consist of 2 years in medical education and 2 years in clinical rotations.
Residency program in MS which can take from 3-7 years.

What are the two types of mid level providers and what do they do?

A

Physican assistants- practice medicine under the supervision of an MD or a DO, they can make clinical decisions. Must have at least a bachelor’s degree followed by 2 years of PA school.
Nurse practionar- provide basic patient care services. Requires advanced academic training beyond RN and a lot of clinical experience.
