Terrorism illegally uses violence and intimidation to pursue a political or ideological goal.

Global terrorism

This term describes the world wide threat to western countries by Islamic extremists.

What is the just war theory ?
Just war is mainly a Christian theory, which begins with the belief that taking a human life is wrong. However it also holds that counties do have a duty to protect and defend their citizens.
What is the purpose of the just war theory ?
The purpose of just war theory is to guide a state when faced with potential threat and conflict situations. It should help it to decide if it should go to war.
What are 4 just causes to war?
- in self-defence against against an enemy’s attack
- to defend the innocent
- to prevent an anticipated attack by a potential enemy
- to help a neighbour state that has been attacked
What are the conditions for war?
1) . War must be the last resort. All other attempts to settle the problem should be tried.
2) . War must be lawfully declared by a government with the authority to declare war.
3) . There must be a cause and a proper intention for war eg keeping peace or defending innocent
4) . There must be a reasonable chance of success.
5) . The good gained by winning the war must be greater than the evil caused by fighting it.
6) . There must be proportionality.
7) . Innocent civilians should not be killed.
8) . Peace must be restored at the end.

1) .Chemical weapons
2) . Biological weapons (germ warfare)
3) . Nuclear weapons
What do chemical weapons do ?
Chemical weapons can cause choking, violent skin irritation and blistering, attacks on the nervous system, or psychological reactions reactions. They also cause destruction to the environment.
What are biological weapons ?
These contain viruses or bacteria that can cause death in humans or animals, destroying crops and water supply. They are extremely dangerous
What is the most common WMD?
Nuclear weapons
What are nuclear weapons?
They are nuclear reactions, within devices such as bombs and misses, to delivery explosive power against an enemy.
