Montessori Method
Child-centered (student-centered or learner-centered) approach to education.
To be considered authentically Montessori, several components must be present:
- Multi-age groupings that foster peer learning
- Uninterrupted blocks of work time
- Guided choice of work activity
Waldorf
1919 based on the ideas of Austrian educator Rudolf Steiner
Underlying principle: ROUTINE
The daily and weekly schedule follows a consistent rhythm, and teachers often remain with the same group of students for up to eight years, allowing them to form a trusting relationship
Reggio Emilia
Developed by the townspeople of Reggio Emilia, Italy, during the 1940s
Students are in charge of their learning
Interest-based approach, consisting of projects reflecting the interests of the students.
Students are encouraged to be spontaneous and curious in their learning.
Teachers are there to guide students to create projects that reflect their pursuits. Children are encouraged to learn through mistakes rather than correction.
