Model performers Flashcards
Describe the ways model performers can be used to gather data -
‘I used a model performer’s NORMS to compare my results to when using the data collection method. X sub-factors that were in the same NORM as theirs was considered a strength whilst those in lower NORMS were identified as weaknesses. I then used this information to select approaches that were specific to my weak mental sub-factors in my programme.’
‘I also used a model performer when comparing my x results in the performance profiling wheel (PPW). The section that had the biggest red difference between my model performer and I was identified as a weakness.’ ‘Finally, I used a mental model performer within my class to help guide my goal setting. I kept my goal realistic by aiming for a classmates levels whilst taking into consideration my own level.’
Limitations of model performers - appropriateness
A limitation is that you may select a poor Model Performer who is actually not that great in regards to the x factor. This can lead to you watching and copying poor sub-routine performances and picking up bad habits in your performance.
A further limitation is that you may select an inappropriate level of Model Performer such as X. This can lead to you setting unrealistic and unachievable goals of an elite level athlete and losing motivation and confidence when you find that you are not meeting them. This can mean that you then give up during your development plan and never improve.
Limitations- time
A limitation is that it can be time consuming collecting and analysing information in regards to a Model Performer. This can lead to you getting bored and rushing the process. This can lead to data being incorrect and invalid.
Limitations - knowledge
A limitation is that you may not have enough knowledge to correctly analyse a Model Performer. This can lead to you identifying Physical strengths when they are in fact Physical weaknesses. This can mean that you are then ignoring areas that need improving as you have wrongly collected data on them.’
Why do we use a model performer?
In order to see what exemplary performance in that sub factor looks like, we can then attempt to act as they do in order to attempt to reach their level, making greater improvements in our own level.
Also gives us a motivation boost as we have a level to work towards (assuming it is an appropriately picked model performer)
