Acronym: word made up from initial letters
Initialism: word made up from initial letters, each pronounced
Blend: two words clipped and fused together to make a new one
Compound: separate whole joined to create a new word
Clipping: a word pronounced by shortening an existing one
Conversion: a word changes it’s class without adding a suffix
Phonetic spelling: words spelt as they’re pronounced
Homophone: numbers/letters replace a part of a word
Paralinguistic restitution: signs and symbols used to add emphasis or shades of meaning
