What is a missing person?
A
-Any person who is reported missing to police AND
-Who’s whereabouts are unknown AND
-There are fears for the safety, or concerns for the welfare, of that person.

What is Fears for safety ?
A
Zone of safety- the physical environment someone’s in.
Age- may change the urgency.
Circumstances- suspicious, unusual, dangerous.

What are the 4 categories of missing persons?
A
-Voluntary. (Run away, not wanting to be found)
-Involuntary. (Kidnapped etc)
-Missing overseas.
-Lost due to event. (Natural disaster etc)

What is the process for dealing with missing persons.
A
Fill out a Pol 62 form throughly. Treat all missing persons with the seriousness of a homicide.
