What is alcohol?
Substance that contains 1.15% or more ethanol volume.
How do you know when somone is intoxicated.
When two or more of these attributes are being displayed.
Speech is impaired
Co-ordination is impaired
Appearance is affected
Behaviour is impaired
How long can you keep someone in cells to sober up.
12 hours, can get an extension by medical practitioner
What is a restricted area and supervised area?
Restricted = an area where no one under 18 is allowed in.
Supervised = minors are only allowed in when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
What is the difference between ON and OFF licenses?
ON license means you have to drink alcohol on the premises.
OFF means alcohol must be consumed off the premises.
What is a CLUB license?
Only members from the club or other clubs with reciprocal rights may consume ON the premises.
What is section 269 of the sale and supply of alcohol act 2012?
The power to demand information when you have reasonable grounds to suspect that someone is committing an offence. If they refuse to give details you can caution them and if they persist you can arrest.
Procedure for finding a person drinking alcohol on a liquor ban area
Obtain details- checking for previous warnings.
Interview- ask if they know theyβre in a ban area.
The alcohol- is it in a labelled trade container?
Options- ask them to tip it out.
Action- $250 fine
