What is a firearm?
Anything from which a projectile can be discharged by force of explosion.
What is an air gun?
Any air gun or weapon that discharges a projectile by use of compressed air or gas.
What is an Imitation firearm?
Anything that appears to be or presented as a firearm whether or not itβs capable of firing.
What is a pistol?
Either designed or adapted to be fired with one hand and/or is under 762mm in length
What is a prohibited firearm?
Any illegal modifications to a firearm, cut barrel, cut stock, extended mag etc
How often does a firearm need to be renewed?
Every 10 years.
What are the license categories for firearms?
A- full license for conventional firearms.
B- pistol license given the owner is a member of a pistol club.
C- collectors license.
D- Arms dealing license
What is section 66B of the Arms Act 1983
Section 66b gives you the power to demand the particulars of anyone in possession of a firearm.
Duties of license holders?
-produce to police on demand or bring to a police station within 7 days.
-to report as soon as practicable If any death or injury involving a firearm occurs.
-to report to the police within 30 days.
