Transversus thoracis
flat, fleshy muscle on the medial surface of the costal cartilages of ribs 2-8; fascicles extend from the costochondral junctions to the sternum
Deep fascia of the trunk (thoracolumbar fascia)
attached to the ends of the spinous and transverse processes of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae; passes over the epaxial muscles to the lateral thoracic and abdominal walls
Superficial fascia of the trunk
covers the thorax and abdomen subcutaneously; continuous cranially and caudally with the superficial fasciae of the thoracic limb, neck, and pelvic limb
Thymus
bilobed, compressed structure situated in the cranial mediastinum; largest in young dog, usually atrophies with age, caudal part molded on the surface of the pericardium
What makes up the carotid sheath?
Tracheal duct, common carotid artery, vagosympathetic trunk, internal jugular vein
