A

Results from administration of glucose to thiamine deficient (usu. alcoholic) pts w/o prior admin. of thiamine. Causes acute confusion, ophthalmoplegia, and ataxia. Tx: give thiamine.
- Medial dorsal nucleus of thalamus and mamillary bodies.
