What is the procedure for castration?
- Start with down testicle
- push into prescrotal region
- incise over 1st testicle
- incise skin/facia then parital tunic
- grab testivle with gauze
- Check inguinal ring size
- Break down proper ligament
- break down cremaster and expose cord
- clamp and ligate spermatic cord
- check bleeding and release
- close ring if needed

What dictates the number of incisions and wethere you close your castration or not?
Indoor or Outdoor Status
-Indoor - 1 incision closed
-Outdoor - 2 open

How can you deal with an inguinal hernia during castration?
Twist testicle to force content back in abdomen

What does the procedure look like after cutting through the skin?
locate ovaries
exteriorize ovaries
clamp and ligate ovarian pedicle
clap, suture and check bleeding
How do you close the spay?
Peritoneum and rectus shealth - simple continous or interrupted
Sq and fat 2-1 simple continous
close skin intradermal - simple interupted
What are some complications of spay?
Hemorrhage, herniation, infection, dehiscence, pain and stress
