Q

Function of Phosphorus (3) + examples

A
  1. Works with calcium and vitamin D to form healthy teeth and bones.
  2. Helps maintain normal pH levels in body. Functions as a buffer to prevent extreme pH change.

Q

Function of Iron (3) + examples

A
  1. Important component in RBC
  2. Essential to form haemoglobin and myglobin. Haemo in RBC is responsible of bonding with oxygen and transporting it from the lungs to other parts of the body. Myglo in muscles supplies oxygen for muscles.
  3. Activates enzymes that speeds up chemical reactions.

Eg. Sesame, red meat, spinach and clam.

Q

Functions of Sodium(2) Chloride (1) + examples

A

Sodium:
1. Needed to maintain normal FLUID BALANCE in body. Sodium works with potass to regulate movement of minerals and fluids in and out of body cells.
2. Essential for nerve impulsion transmission by working with potass.

Chloride:
1. Essential for forming HCL in body for digestion.

Eg. Sausages, Potato chips, salted egg
