What did Hippocrates and Galen theorise and why was their work significant?
A
Hippocrates theorised the 4 Humours and Galen built upon this with the Theory of Opposites. These ideas were endorsed by the Catholic Church as Galen spoke of the soul in his writings. These ideas governed the way people thought about cures and treatments, as the power of the Church was so strong.
