Electrons fired from an electron gun and focused with magnets. Only dead samples viewed due to vacuum and artefacts will be common. Images are black and white as denser parts abosrb more electrons; appearing darker. Magnification is 500000x and 3D images are viewed with Scanning Electron Microscope not Transmission
