A
  1. Excess blood loss - menorrhagia, GI bleeds
  2. Inadequate dietary intake - Vegans/vegetarians
  3. Poor intestinal absorption - Anything affecting small intestine eg coeliac
  4. Increased iron requirements - Children when they’re growing, pregnancy
