Methods Of Presenting Practise And Types Of Practise Flashcards
What’s whole learning?
Skill isn’t broke down into subroutines and it is practised in its entirety
What’s whole part whole learning?
Practise movement as a whole and then break down into subroutines and then integrate it back into whole skill
What’s progressive part learning?
Teach first subroutine and add on second part and Simon and so forth until whole skill is learnt
Who and when should you use whole teaching on?
When the skill is highly organised and an autonomous learner
Who and when should you use whole part whole teaching on?
When skill is complex and they’re an autonomous leaner
Who and when should you use progressive teaching on?
When skill is complex and they’re a cognitive leaner
What’s is and advantage and disadvantage of whole teaching?
Fluency between subroutines is developed but it cannot be used for cognitive learners
What’s an advantage and disadvantages of whole part whole teaching?
Fluency between subroutines is maintained but it is time consuming
What’s an advantage and disadvantage if progressive part teaching?
It can reduce the danger if the skill hard but it’s also time consuming
What are the 4 types of practise?
Massed
Distributed
Variable
Mental
What’s massed practise?
No rest intervals are given between each component of training session
What’s distributed practise?
Practise the skill with breaks within practise
What’s variable practise?
Both massed and distributed practise
What’s mental practise?
Rehearse task/skill mentally
What are things to consider with massed practise?
Fatigue can occur
They could groove the wrong skill
It’s good for autonomous learners
Good for simple skills
What’s the things to consider with distributed practise?
Feedback can be given within the rest intervals
There are time constraints
It’s good for befinners
What’s the things to consider with variable practise?
Use when skill is unstable
Use when skill is open
Things to consider with mental practise?
No fatigue occurs
Not good for cognitive learners
