Q

Why is Methergine contraindicated in patients with HTN, CVD, or Pre-eclampsia?

A

Since Methergine is used to stimulate uterine contractions to fight atony, it causes significant Vasoconstriction.

This can exacerbate existing arterial issues, further raising blood supply.
