Aviation Weather Web Site (AWWS)
primary tool for finding weather in canada
Where can you find coding & symbols for weather?
TC AIM - transport Canada’s aeronautical information manual.
GFAs =
Graphical Area Forecasts
-weather map - 7 regions - below 24,000ft.
-6 GFAs divided into 2 groups
1 = 12hr clouds & weather
2 = 12hr ice, turbulence & freezing level
Graphical Area Forecasts (GAFs)
Part 1 =Clouds & Weather
Cloud height, type, pressure, thunderstorms, location of highs & lows, fronts, visibility & precipication
SIGMET =
Significant Meteorological Advisories
= severe weather advisories
Ex: severe turbulence, severe icing, thunderstorms, squall lines, tornadoes, hurricanes, mountain waves, volcanic ash, sand storms, severe hail, or wind shear
AIRMETs =
Airman’s Meteorological Advisories = potentially hazardous weather conditions.
METARs & TAFs differenece
