Metabolism (aerobic/anaerobic) Flashcards

1
Q

What is the ATP-PCr System

A

AKA the phosphagen system

  • for high intensity short duration activities such as a 10 meter dash
  • most readily available form of energy found in contractile muscle
  • ATP + PC is stored here as well.

[DOES NOT REQUIRE O2]

Q

What is Anaerobic Glycolysis?

A

Glycogen splitting into glucose via the process of [GLYCOLYSIS]

[DOES NOT REQUIRE O2]

  • only uses glycogen and glucose
  • produces a small amount of ATP

Glucose can be further be split into pyruvic acid

A

Used for long duration and low intensity activities such as running a marathon.

utilizing:
- Fatty Acids
- Amino Acids
- Glucose

To form ATP
