MEP.1.1.2.1 Fuel Injection Flashcards
What does fuel injection offer?
More efficient and powerful means of feeding the engine
What does it remove?
Carburettor and thus the need for carburettor heating
What’s done to ensure adequate supply in the event of induction icing?
Air for the fuel injection system passes through a filter.
There is an alternate intake
Where is the selector for the alternate air?
Likely to be under the instrument panel, as is the selector for the alternate static source.
The alternate air is unfiltered, and care needs to be to taken in dusty conditions
What’s the starting procedure for an injected engine?
We prime with the fuel pump on, the throttle open and mixture rich, and then we set the throttle, turn off the boost pump and select mixture to cut-off.
Mixture goes back to the full rich when the engine starts.
What happens when engines are temperamental?
It is then important to observe the start procedures for hot and cold conditions and hot or cold engines.
