MEP.1.1 Introducing MEP Aircraft & Systems Flashcards
What will we find in this chapter?
The new systems that the pilot will find in a Twin Engine Aircraft in the transition from a single Engine Aircraft
MEP.1.1.1 Complex Systems
MEP.1.1.1.1 Retractable Undercarriage
How is the undercarriage selected?
Electrically
How is the normal extension and retraction?
Either:
- Direct by an electric motor, or
- Indirect by an electrically driven hydraulic pump
What are the limiting speeds for the operation of the undercarriage and flight with extended carriage ?
Vlo & Vle respectively
What other maximum speeds may there be for selecting the undercarriage down and up?
One for selecting the undercarriage down, another for selecting the undercarriage up after take-off
What are the lights that you will see in the undercarriage different positions?
Green = undercarriage is down and locked
Red = gear is in transit
No lights = when wheels are up and locked
For what is the micro-switch placed in one leg known as the squall swith?
To prevent UP selection when there is weight on the wheels
What does the warning horn indicate? On what may it also depend?
When throttles are retarded at low airspeed and the undercarriage is up.
It may also depend on the flap position.
