Sudden onset of intense feeling of fear, apprehension and impending doom.
Fear they are having a heart attack or going to die.
Can occur with or without agoraphobia (people can develop agoraphobia because they are afraid to leave their house because they are afraid of having a panic attack in public)

persistent and recurrent thought that cannot be dismissed
Compulsion
ritualistic behavior than an individual feels he must do in order to relieve anxiety
