Meiosis 2 Flashcards
Interphase
-cell grows and carries out normal functions
-during S phase DNA duplicates so, number of chromosomes duplicate
Meiosis 2
-divided SISTER CHROMATIDS
-works with 2 cells at a time
-end result is 4 non identical cells, gametes
-resulting cells are haploid
Prophase 2
-chromosomes condense
-chromosomes + centrioles move to opposite sides of the cell
-spindle fibers
-nuclear membrane breaks down
*you have 1 chromosome each from mom and 1 from dad, not a sister chromatid each from mom and dad
Metaphase 2
-chromosomes line up along the metaphase plate
-both chromosomes line up right on the line in a single filed line
Anaphase 2
-sister chromatids divide
-chromosomes are pulled apart + move to opposite sides of the cell
Telophase 2 + Cytokinesis
-cells pinch, cleavage furrow
-nuclear membrane reforms around chromosomes
-spindle fibers dissolve/break down
Cell undergoes cytokinesis
-result is 4 non identical daughter cells, gametes that are HAPLOID
