Meiosis Flashcards
Meiosis
Meiosis is the reproduction of gametes sperm and egg. 4 daughter cells
Crossing over DNA Molecules
Crossing over occurs when portions of DNA molecules next to each other are swapped.
Haploid cells (half daughter cell)
Are half of the number of chromosomes found in daughter cells.
Prophase 1 (Pairing/crossing)
Is Homologous chromosomes pairing and crossing over.
Metaphase 1
Spindles spindles align in center.
Anaphase 1
Chromosomes move to the opposite end of the cell.
Telophase 1
chromosomes shift and a nuclear envelope of the cell.
Prophase 2
The nuclear envelopes dissolve, and the spindle apparatus forms.
Metaphase 2
Chromosomes line up individually at the metaphase plate.
Anaphase 2
The sister chromatids separate and move to opposite poles of the cell.
cytokinesis
separates the cytoplasm and the duplicated genome into two daughter cells at the end of cell division
