Feudal system
King gave land to lords + nobles in return lords + nobles gave him soldiers
Nobles gave land to soldiers so soldiers fought for them
Peasants worked the land for nobles + knights who gave them protection
Medieval manor
Peasants lived in villages called manors ran by lords/nobles
50 houses for peasants, manor house for lord/noble, church, mill forge + bailiff who collected taxes

Building castles
A lord builds a temp castle (motte + bailey). A motte is an artificial hill with a wooden tower/keep on top. Below is the bailey surrounded by wooden fence
Stone castles
Curtain walls enclosed the castle
Keep = lords chambers, chapel, great hall + dungeon
Patrolled battlements on keep + turrets
Bailey has stables, workshop, soldiers quarters
Gatehouse has drawbridge + portcullis
Castle is surrounded by moat
Foot soldiers
Largest part of the army, fought with swords, daggers + spears
Shields + leather jackets for protection

Fought on horseback + swore an oath of chivalry
Full armor, chainmail, shield + helmet

Dressed in white robe + full armor
Dubbing ceremony + oath of chivalry
