Aphasia
impairment of language, affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write
Apraxia
neurological disorder characterized by the inability to perform learned (familiar) movements on command, even though the command is understood and there is a willingness to perform the movement.
Ataxia
degenerative disease of the nervous system. symptoms included slurred speech, stumbling, falling, and incoordination. These symptoms are caused by damage to the cerebellum, the part of the brain that is responsible for coordinating movement.
Concussion
mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). It can occur after an impact to your head or after a whiplash-type injury that causes your head and brain to shake quickly back and forth.
Contusion
a region of injured tissue or skin in which blood capillaries have been ruptured; a bruise.
Dyskinesia
abnormality or impairment of voluntary movement.
Dysphagia
medical term for difficulty in swallowing. This includes problems with sucking, swallowing, drinking, chewing, eating, dribbling saliva, closing lips, or when food or drink goes down the wrong way.
Hemiparesis
weakness of one entire side of the body
Hemiplegia
condition caused by brain damage or spinal cord injury that leads to paralysis on one side of the body.
Intracranial pressure (ICP)
pressure exerted by fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) inside the skull and on the brain tissue.
Neuropathy
nerve damage leads to pain, weakness, numbness or tingling in one or more parts of the body. There are many different causes of neuropathy, one of the most common being diabetes
Paraplegia
impairment in motor or sensory function of the lower extremities
Paresthesia
burning or prickling sensation that is usually felt in the hands, arms, legs, or feet, but can also occur in other parts of the body
