Q

clinical manifestation of parvovirus B19

A
  1. erythema infectiosum - fever/malaise followed by characteristic cheek rash
  2. arthralgia - most common in women
  3. anemia
    • can become aplastic in individuals w/hemoglobinophathies(sickle cell)
    • worse for immunocompromised
  4. risk of fetal hydrops if mama is infected
    • bad for pregos to get parvo
  5. myocarditis

Q

complications of measles

A

transient immunosuppression: allows coinfections

encephalitis: acute, acute disseminated, sub acute sclerosing panencephalitis(years later)

worse if immunosuppressed, malnutritious(vit A)
