The first gun is fired as the body enters the cemetery, followed by three volleys at five-second intervals as the casket is lowered into the grave.
When the procession is in motion, where should the OIC go?
To the grave to await the arrival of the funeral party
When should the band and escort render honors during the procession?
After the units/individuals are in position at the grave and the OIC signals.
What is the OIC’s responsibility to the unaccompanied widow or mother of the deceased?
Provide escort from the car to the grave and, when practicable, remain with her to render assistance until the service is completed.
